Welcome to The 40k Hobbiest! My name is Drew and I'd like to tell you a little about myself.
I've been involved in the Warhammer 40,000 hobby since early 2002 when one of my high school buddies introduced me to it and took me to a few game nights. After a few games, I purchased my first box of models and I was instantly hooked. I've been playing 40k ever since.
My real passion for the game is in the painting. I love adding freshly painted models to my armies and I love learning new tricks and techniques to make my models look better. I also like going to Games Workshop and seeing a well-painted army positioned and ready to go on the tabletop. Plus it is much more fun to play when everyone's armies are painted - it adds to the feel of the battle.
Also, painting is my favorite way to unwind after a long day at work. I used to serve in the Army, so I'm sure you can understand how stressful some days could be. Sitting down and painting after a tough day at work always calms me down and gets me ready to go back to work the next day. Even now that I'm out of the Army, painting is a good way to just calm down and relax. My wife, Jeanie is an artistic person too! While I paint 40k, she crochets items for her business or works on her photography. Ever since we met, art has been something we can always do together and a way we can always connect. I'm really lucky to be with her. I wouldn't be painting nearly as much as I do now if it weren't for her. Few things in life are more rewarding than a day spent painting with her.
I'm always willing to help others learn more about the hobby. If you have any comments, 40k background questions, painting or modeling questions, or suggestions for how to make my blog better, feel absolutely free to email me at 40khobbiest@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
